Electrical rewiring services

Whether you are living in an older home that need upgrading or you are just wanting to upgrade your existing wiring to allow for added appliances or technology. Our electricians can do rewiring for existing houses, factories, sheds, underground services, commercial properties or retail shops. If you are building, renovating or need to simply upgrade your electrical wiring to be safe, modern and hazard free then our team can rewire an entire structure.

The most common reasons to get rewiring include;

  • Safety: Outdated or faulty wiring can pose a significant safety risk, including the potential for electrical fires or electric shocks. Rewiring ensures that your property meets current safety standards and minimises the risk of accidents.

  • Home Safety Inspections: During a home safety inspection, it may be identified that the existing wiring is outdated, unsafe, or not up to code. In such cases, rewiring is recommended to ensure the property meets safety standards.

  • Aging Wiring: Over time, electrical wiring can deteriorate, especially in older properties. Rewiring becomes necessary to replace outdated or degraded wiring, reducing the risk of electrical malfunctions and hazards associated with aging systems.

  • Faulty Wiring or Electrical Issues: If you are experiencing frequent electrical problems such as flickering lights, tripped circuit breakers, or outlets not working, it could indicate underlying wiring issues. Rewiring addresses these problems, resolving the root cause and improving overall electrical reliability.

  • Renovations and Remodeling: When renovating or remodeling a property, rewiring is often necessary to accommodate new layouts, lighting fixtures, and electrical requirements. It ensures that the electrical infrastructure can effectively support the changes being made.

  • Upgrading Electrical Capacity: Older properties may have inadequate electrical capacity to meet modern demands. Rewiring allows for the installation of additional power outlets, accommodating new appliances, electronic devices, and electrical equipment.

  • Code Compliance: Building codes and regulations are regularly updated to ensure electrical systems are up to standard. Rewiring ensures your property is compliant with the latest codes, helping you avoid penalties and legal issues.

Level 2 Electrician for Overhead Connections

Rewiring an existing home

A lot of older style homes are using outdated cables and wiring which can cause disruptions to the electricity supply including shortages and overloads. Depending on the age of the home your wiring may also not meet current Australian Standards which can affect home insurance policies should a claim need to be raised after an emergency situation.

Having electrical rewiring can bring new life to your home allowing you to add more appliances and technology making life easier as well as safer for everyone living there. Our qualified electricians work closely with you to figure out the best steps to take to get your home completely rewired.

Level 2 electrician switchboard upgrades

Rewiring for a business, retail or commercial property

For new and pre-existing structures we are able to upgrade the wiring that is already there. Rewiring can be done for any type of business, retail shop or commercial property no matter what purpose it is used for.

Our electricians have rewired warehouses, shopping centre stores and other locations especially when they are getting a refit to be ready for a new tenant.

We can add additional wiring if needed to accomodate more power points or other electrical appliances as part of a rewiring project.

For very old properties what can happen is that over time the cabling can start to break down. Older wiring in any type of building has a much shorter life expectancy compared to the new double insulated TPS cabling that is used today.

How much does it cost for an electrician to do rewiring?

Like all electrical jobs the cost will depend on the scale of the work required. Rewiring an outdoor shed might only take a few hours, while rewiring a double storey house that has six bedrooms light take a few days or weeks.

The size of the building, how much wiring is used and how many hours it takes to complete the job due to the complexity are all factors that get considered in the cost of a rewiring job.

Our electricians however will take all of this into consideration when giving you a quote from a site visit so that you can see the costs before any work commences.

We install and replace all major electrical products

We are an family run, local, electrician service. That means you can choose any brand or any product to have installed.

An electrician with great reviews

We can write a million words on our website, but finding a local electrician with great reviews is probably more important and here are a few samples with more on our online profiles.

We have recently used the services of Hi-Quality Electrical for our shop refit re-wiring.

We would rate the service 5 stars, nothing was too much trouble and the team was very accommodating.

We would not hesitate to use Clayton, Travis and his electrician team again for any future work.

We highly recommend them.

Just a shout out to Hi-Quality Electrical and the service their electricians provide.

We just had them out to inspect and quote for smoke detector installation and they completed this service where they test all electrical components of the house for peace of mind.

Wish we knew about their electrical inspection service prior to purchasing as we could have negotiated the buying price

Thank you so much for organising the sensor light installation with your electrician.

As I mentioned to you, this was a fairly urgent job for me as it was a matter of security due to some incidents I was experiencing. Your understanding of the situation and the urgency behind it was reassuring.

I also wanted to mention the electrician who did the job. He was so polite and very helpful and patient, answering all my questions and showing me how to adjust the light if necessary. I would appreciate if you would pass my feedback onto him.

I will certainly be passing on the recommendation of Hi Quality Electrical to others.

Electricians in Australia must go through advanced training and certification in order to work on different types of jobs. Sydney electricians must hold an ASP (Accredited & Authorised Service Provider) qualification provided by Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy under the Electricity Supply Act 1995.

Level 1 ASP Electricians

Electricians holding this certification are permitted to connect residential and commercial properties to the electricity network. They are free to extend your network capacity as well as perform electrical installations, electrical repairs and electrical maintenance to your residential and commercial electrical systems. Some of the specific tasks Level 1 ASP electricians can complete include:

  • Class 1A: Assembling electricity poles and private power poles
  • Class 1B: Excavating underground cables trenches

  • Class 1C: Constructing and working within electrical distributions substations

Level 2 ASP Electricians

This specialist electrical services qualification enables level 2 electricians to work on live electrical services whether they be overhead or underground. Working on the electrical supply network requires advanced knowledge of safety as well as specialist knowledge due to the danger and complicated procedures involved. Those with a level 2 electrical qualification can also perform electrical installations, electrical repairs and electrical maintenance works. Some of the specific work a Level 2 ASP is qualified to completed includes:

  • Class 2A: Disconnecting and reconnecting service lines at the point of attachment. Commonly referred to as D&R (disconnect and reconnect), this electrical service involves operating directly on electrical service lines which supply a building with power. You may require this service after having receiving an electrical defect notice. Your property could have received this defect notice for a number of reasons. These can include your property having issues with upgrading consumer mains, point of attachment, point connection and private power pole connection.
  • Class 2B: Working on underground service conductors and wiring systems. Replacing and removing local electricity distributors. Installing, relocating, upgrading and connecting underground service lines. Replacing service protection devices and neutral wiring links
  • Class 2C: Working on overhead service conductors and lines. Replacing and removing a local electrical distributor. Installing, relocating, upgrading and connecting overhead service lines. Replacing overhead service protection devices and neutral wiring links
  • Class 2D: Working with network service equipment such as service protection device and fuses. Replacing and removing network service equipment. Installing, relocating, upgrading and connecting service protection devices and fuse. Energising service network equipment. ASPs can only carry out this service if they are a provider with the Australian Energy Marketing Operator (AEMO)

Level 3 ASP Electricians

This base qualification only allows an electrician to deal with the design and distribution of an electricity network either underground or overhead. Level 3 electricians are not permitted to perform connections, installations, maintenance or repair works. Some of the work a Level 3 Asp can carry out includes

  • Class 3A: designing overhead electricity networks
  • Class 3B: designing underground electricity networks
